The exhibition ‘The World Through Abu’s Eyes: A Centennial Celebration’ is a tribute to Abu Abraham, a visionary cartoonist whose incisive work cut through the complexities of political and social issues with remarkable precision. His career, spanning continents and ideologies, is a testament to the universal power of political satire and the relentless pursuit of truth and rational thought.
Born in 1924 in Kerala, Abu’s journey began in the crucible of mid-20th-century political upheaval. Raised in Kollam (Quilon), the stirrings of Indian independence marked his early years. In 1942, drawn by Gandhiji’s call for a day of fasting, young Abu participated, only to yield to hunger by evening—a small yet telling glimpse of his journey through the complex landscape of nationalist fervour.
